This release basically amounts to an expensive lottery ticket.  A box contains two cards, both of which are autographed.  It seems you could either do really well, or really poorly.  The two cards found in this box:

2014 Topps Supreme Autograph Sepia #SA-MB Mookie Betts
2014 Topps Supreme Supreme Styling Die Cut Autographs Purple #SS-JP Josmil Pinto

« on: November 06, 2014, 01:25:30 AM »
O-Pee-Chee has come a long way over the years, but nothing quite says hockey like that name.  Now, produced by Upper Deck, we have a box of 2014-15 O-Pee-Chee.  The cards have a vintage feel to them, while still being high quality.  The box does not advertise any hits, but contains 32 packs of 8 cards each.  The complete set contains 600 cards.  The first 500 are regular release, while the high numbers are 50 Rookies and 50 Legends, packed at 1 in 2 packs.

8 Rookies (16%)

26 Base Retro
3 Rookies Retro

Once again, the flagship release is pretty standard.  10 Packs with 50 cards per pack.  It advertises one autograph and two relics per box, but one of those relics is a manufactured relic.

Hobby Talk / 2014 Topps Stadium Club Hobby Master Box
« on: October 05, 2014, 01:07:41 PM »
After a few years off, Stadium Club returns with a new offering.  The cards are nice, but it doesn't feel like great value for your money.  The master box offers three mini boxes containing six packs of five cards in each mini box.  Each mini box also advertises one autograph card.  So, the roughly $100 master box gets you 90 cards total.  I like the die-cut cards, but the base parallels took a bit for me to pick out.

75 Base (37.5% of 200 card set)
3 Base Rainbow Foil
1 Base Gold Foil
3 Field Access
1 Legends Die-Cut

Hobby Talk / 2014 Bowman Chrome Jumbo Hobby Box
« on: September 28, 2014, 12:46:58 AM »
In keeping with a similar release from Topps Chrome, Bowman Chrome follows suit with a Jumbo offering this year.  The box contains 12 packs of 13 cards each, as well as five advertised autographs.  For the price tag, it feels petty light on inserts, though.  There just aren't a lot of colors or other types of inserts.  The 1989 Bowman is Back line continues in this release.  Unlike last year, the chrome prospects do not continue the numbering scheme from the regular Bowman release.  Instead, the 110 cards from this release reuse the same numbering scheme from before, so now there are two sets of BCP1-BCP110, which I'm sure will only lead to confusion.

53 Base (24% of 220 card set)
79 Prospects (71.8% of 110 card set)
2 Base Refractors
2 Chrome Prospects Refractors
1 Blue Refractor
1 Gold Prospects Refractor
1 Purple Refractor
3 89 Bowman Is Back
3 Dualing Die-Cuts
3 Fire Die-Cuts
3 Mini Chrome
1 Bowman Chrome Autograph Prospect #BCAP-AS Anthony Santander
1 Bowman Chrome Autograph Prospect #BCAP-CA Cody Anderson
1 Bowman Chrome Autograph Prospect #BCAP-MF Michael Feliz

This is a new pack out this year for Topps Chrome.  I'm not sure the price point makes it very effective compared to the standard hobby box, though.  It consists of 12 packs of 13 cards.  The parallels seem harder to come by, but there are five autographs per jumbo box.

136 Base (61.8% of set)
4 Refractors
2 XFractors
1 Blue Refractor
1 Black Refractor
1 Gold Refractor
4 1989 Topps Chrome

1 Chrome Connection
1 Autograph Rookie Ethan Martin
1 Autograph Rookie Kevin Siegrist
1 Autograph Rookie Jimmy Nelson
1 Autograph Rookie Refractor Oscar Taveras
1 Topps of the Class Autograph Chris Owings

Again, this release features 2 inner boxes containing six packs of five cards.  There are more inserts and parallels this year, but the guaranteed hits are not as big, with just two autographs per master box.  Also, while the parallels are advertised as colored refractors, the colors are not very apparent, so you'll need to pay attention to the serial numbering.

42 different base (plus one duplicate)
5 base refractors
1 X-fractor
2 green refractors /199
1 blue refractor /125
3 1994 Finest style
1 Topps Sterling Bryce Harper
1 Topps Sterling Red Refractor Paul Goldschmidt
1 die-cut Finest Warriors Nick Castellanos
1 Rookie Autographs Matt Davidson
1 Rookie Autographs Taijuan Walker

Hobby Talk / 2014 Donruss Series 2 Hobby Box
« on: August 26, 2014, 11:55:18 PM »
This release extends the first series released this spring.  It felt like that first series was a bit of a trial before they really jumped in, and this series really builds on it.  Elite cards join the insert lineup, along with many more parallels for these inserts.  More importantly, I think the signatures are much more attractive in series two than the orange ones we previously had.

Series 2 is a smaller release than one, containing 155 cards, 55 of which are short print Diamond Kings and Rated Rookies.

134 Base Cards (including full 100 base card set)
6 Diamond Kings SP (20%)
3 Rated Rookies SP (12%)
2 Gold Press Proof parallels
2 Silver Press Proof parallels
2 Career Stat Line parallels
1 Season Stat Line parallel

1 Bat Kings Ryan Howard
1 Jersey Kings Derrick Robinson
1 Face 2 Face Paul Goldschmidt / Hyun-Jin Ryu
1 Elite Series Mike Trout
2 Elite Dominators (Max Scherzer)
24 Elite Base cards (24%)
1 Elite Gold Status Die-Cut
1 Elite Red Status Die-Cut
1 Elite Turn of the Century
4 The Rookies (including Jose Abreu)
1 The Rookies Career Stat Line parallel Masahiro Tanaka
3 The Elite Series

1 Elite Signatures Turn of the Century Taijuan Walker
1 Elite Signatures Turn of the Century Matt Davidson
